What is Malware?

Malware is a generic term that refers to any software running on your computer that:

You did not intend to install.

May deliberately cause harm to, or disrupt the normal running of your computer system, or may send information about you or your system to someone else without your permission.

There are many types of malware such as:

Viruses that may cause damage to your system.

Adware that may result in unwanted, intrusive pop-up windows appearing that usually contain some sort of advert.

Spyware that reports your personal information back to someone else, sometimes with malicious intent.
Unwanted Programs that you may have been tricked into installing.

Other malware can turn your system into a "zombie", that can be used by the controller to perform malicious tasks like sending spam email. Malware can be acquired by visiting some websites (sometimes the website owner is unaware of the problem), or by running or installing infected software. It is often responsible for poor performance.

How I Can Help

If your computer is behaving strangely, possibly displaying unwanted pop-ups, or if you have other reasons to believe it is infected, A1 ComputaFix can remove any malware that your system may have acquired, using a variety of techniques.

Where possible I will use your own Internet Security program and/or install one or more others, though in some cases malware can prevent this, making it necessary to use other techniques. In some cases it may be necessary to remove your hard drive and scan it on another system. If required I can research a custom fix for your particular problem, and will often be able to cap charges at an agreed level on request.

The Malware Removal Service includes everything that would normally be done in an A1 ComputaFix Cleanup & Update, so at the end of the process your computer should not only be virus-free, but will have been tuned up & cleaned to run at optimum performance.
